Sigma provides ASNT/CSWIP/PCN Level I, II, & III technicians for Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) Testing to detect anomalies (flaws) and metal loss (corrosion/erosion) in metal floor sheets.

MFL is a screening (qualitative) NDT/NDE method to detect anomalies i.e., corrosion/erosion and metal loss in steel structures, most commonly storage tank floors. MFL uses a powerful magnet to create an electromagnetic field in the steel. In areas where there is corrosion/erosion or metal loss, the magnetic field "leaks" from the steel. The MFL tool detects the “leakage” and records the anomaly on a chart. The technician marks the damaged areas so further quantitative measurement with UT Thickness can be collected. The technician use UT thickness measurements to estimate the metal loss and calculate the sheet/floor thickness.

Certified technicians are available for call-out or long-term assignments. Sigma provides turnkey MFL inspection and reporting complete with equipment, consumables, vehicles (mileage), and accommodations required to perform Magnetic Flux Leakage Testing.
