Sigma provides ASNT/CSWIP/PCN Level I & II technicians for Long-Range Guided Wave (LRUT) Testing to detect anomalies (flaws) and metal loss (corrosion/erosion) in metal pipe.

LRUT is used as a screening (qualitative) method to detect anomalies i.e., corrosion and erosion in pipes that are not accessible for inspection by conventional means. The method employs mechanical stress waves that propagate along an elongated structure while guided by its boundaries. This allows the waves to travel further with less loss in energy. The anomalies can be graphically displayed and stored as a digital image so the technician can make a pass/fail call or, “additional inspection required,” regarding the mechanical integrity of the pipe. Additional inspection would consist of quantitative data collection from UT Thickness, PAUT, or AUT.

Certified technicians are available for call-out or long-term assignments. Sigma provides turnkey LRUT inspection and reporting complete with equipment, consumables, vehicles (mileage), and accommodations required to perform Long Range Guided Wave.
